Been sick for the past few days. Not too much fun I have to say. But now I'm feeling a bit better and ready to blog about it! Not really. If you want to know gross details about sinus issues ask somebody else.

I did get a chance to watch more television than I normally do. Since I do not have access to cable it was all movies and the wonderful world of SPECIAL FEATURES! I love those things, especially when they focus on the music. I've always wanted to tackle the world of film scoring. It's crazy what can go into putting the right music to a scene.

For instance, on the the movie Looper the composer went around the city that they were filming in and recorded sounds of nearly everything. Treadmills, industrial fans, all different kinds of metals, you name it. Then, those noises were made into the rhythm section of the entire film score. After layering that with a fantastic string ensemble and other melodic sounds you had no idea that what you were hearing was not your typical orchestral rhythm section. Insane! I would love to go around with a recorder capturing anything and everything that makes a noise. Similar thing happened in Raiders of the Lost Arc. The opening of the arc, actually a toilet.

I did that once for a song. Not the toilet thing, though I should, but I recorded some noises for an instrumental song. Definitely made it more interesting. I'm thinking that will be my next project. Get random recorded noises and put them to my songs. Either in my live backing tracks or have it be on the album. By the way I'm just thinking of this as I'm typing. Phones sound like microwaves. I know this because I just heard a microwave, we don't have a microwave. Oh, that was the oven. That would be fun! Minus that last bit.

Well, still on the edge of my illness but I will be ready for my gig in Oakland on Friday. You hear that sinus bug, you're not invited.

So I leave you with this. I like movies, special features, and yes the music in films. What do you like?
