There are a few things that I have noticed that make a big difference. Yet they are ignored due to the fact that things tend to adjust themselves to fit their surroundings. Or the surroundings just get used to the way one thing may change, and forget how it used to be.

For instance, I had a set of strings on my bass guitar for nearly ten years. No kidding. That's just ridiculous. I literally missed about ten to fifteen string changes. Since bass hasn't been my prime focus of instrument, I simply didn't notice that the sound that was being produced from the strings was screaming "CHANGE ME"! I just played a bass line when I needed and only cared if my electric and acoustics guitar strings needed tending to. Who cares about bass strings anyway? They last forever. I was definitely in denial.

Realizing that I have been a terrible mother to my bass guitar, I finally changed them. It was the strangest thing, the guitar just seems more vibrant, sounds amazing, and feels lighter. I don't know if it's a fact that old strings weigh down your guitar, but that was the case for me. Anyway, I enjoy playing it as much as I did when I was a kid. I simply can't wait to pick up and play all my guitars now, bass or electric. It's awesome!

If there's one thing I've learned, it's that sometimes you shouldn't ignore the small things. It just might make all the difference in the world.

Cheers, Tajlyn
