This past weekend I played my first show with my pre-footdrum kit set up. Wasn't too bad. Had some typical first time difficulties, but all in all it went fairly well.
Next phase is adding more on the upper end of the kit, while modifying the lower end. A never ending process. Nothing changes the fact that your drum kit is always going to evolve as you grow as a person.
True story. I started out with a simple junkie starter kit. Went to a more elaborate kit, with too many parts that raised my anxiety anytime I had to move it. RIDICULOUS. Didn't mean to hit the caps lock, but I'll just go with it. Then traded that for a simple one piece electronic kit. Now, craving the feel of real drums again with the simplicity of just one to three pieces, it's come to this phase. The foot drum kit. That's one piece right there. Can't complain at all.
Minimalistic drumming. Otherwise known as beat boxing, I didn't settle for. It's a sweet talent to posses, and if I could beat box while singing I wouldn't need drums. That is not the reality as of today, so I find another way. Make the beats with my feet, singing songs on the streets. Playing rhythms with no hands. Music. It's a crazy animal.
Cheers,
Tajlyn
